There will be two editions of Food For Mzansi’s 2024 Farm Management Winter School. The first edition will take place on Monday, 26 & Tuesday, 27 August 2024 in Pretoria, Gauteng. The second edition will be held on Monday, 19 & Tuesday, 20 August 2024 in Wellington, Western Cape.

1 During the two-day winter school, you’ll delve into key focus areas essential for modern farm management. You’ll start with Financial Management 101, where you’ll learn the essentials of financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure the financial health of your farm. Then, explore Agricultural Stewardship, discovering sustainable farming practices that promote soil health, biodiversity, and long-term productivity.
2 Gain insights into market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitive landscapes in Market Analysis, enabling you to make informed business decisions. You’ll also learn about Responsible Pesticide Management, understanding the safe and effective use of pesticides while minimising environmental impact and ensuring consumer safety.
3 In the People Management & Labour Laws module, you’ll explore best practices for managing farm teams, navigating labour laws, and fostering a positive work environment. Strategic Planning will help you develop strategic plans to set clear goals, prioritize resources, and adapt to changing market conditions.
4 Logistical Management will cover the art of efficient farm operations, supply chain management, and logistics to streamline your processes. Discover the latest agricultural technologies and tools in Technological Advancements to optimise productivity and sustainability on your farm.
5 Anticipate and prepare for various future scenarios in Scenario Planning to mitigate risks and seize opportunities. Understand the impact of climate change on agriculture and discover strategies to build resilience and adapt to changing conditions in Climate Change and Agriculture.
6 Personal and Brand Identity is another crucial area, where you’ll define your personal and farm brand identity to differentiate yourself in the market and connect with consumers. Lastly, embrace ethical farming practices in Environmental Ethics, prioritising environmental conservation and community well-being.
Ticket information
The ticket price is R5 400 per person (incl. VAT), which includes all meals during the event, including a networking function.
